5th Wheel Trailer and Travel Trailer Departure Checklist |

 Use this checklist to prepare your towable recreational vehicle - fifth wheel or travel trailer - for transport. You can customize this list for your trailer, since some items may or may not apply to you. Use your Owner's Manual to ensure that you complete all of the necessary steps to prepare your RV for towing.
Interior items
Lower roof-mounted TV antenna
Lower roof-mounted satellite dish (TV & Internet)
Stow clothing
Latch closet doors
Secure items inside cabinets and storage compartments
Secure items on kitchen sink and counter
Secure items on bathroom sink
Secure items in shower
Latch shower
Secure all other loose items
Latch all cabinet doors and sliding cabinent trays (tape, velcro, rope or bungee cords can help if necessary)
Latch refrigerator doors
Turn off refrigerator
Close and latch stove top and oven door
Secure TVs and other electronics
Secure computer and accessories
Stow all pictures, mirrors and other hanging items
Close roof vents
Secrure window blinds
Close all windows
Secure chairs and tables
Turn off air conditioner / furnace
Turn off water heater
Turn off water pump
Close all internal doors (bathroom, bedroom, living room)
Discard all trash
Exterior Items
Remove decorative items from awnings and stow
Retract and secure awnings
Check the tops of slide(s) for debris and water
Verify that interior slide path is clear
Bring slides in (and lock slide mechanism, if there is one)
Stow all exterior items (BBQ, mats, tables, chairs, satellite dish)
Secure all compartment sliding trays
Dump black holding tank
Rinse black holding tank (if necessary)
Close black tank valves
Dump gray holding tank
Close gray tank valves
Add treatment chemicals to black tank (as per the directions of the chemicals that you use)
Disconnect, rinse and stow sewer hose and accessories
Disconnect fresh water hose and accessories and stow
Disconnect cable TV and telephone line and store cables
Disconnect shore power, addapters and surge protector and stow
Turn off all lights
Turn off all propane bottle valves
Stow kingpin stabilizer
Lock all exterior compartment doors
Stow entry steps, lock trailer and stow hand rail
Inspect trailer tires
Check tire pressure and lug nuts
Final Inspection - look around and under trailer for anything that might have been missed
